Classification of Living Beings: A Simple Guide

Scientists classify organisms using several key criteria. Let's examine each one in detail. The first criterion is cell structure. Prokaryotic cells lack a true nucleus and membrane-bound organelles, while eukaryotic cells have both.Next, we look at cellular organization.Unicellular organisms consist of a single cell, while multicellular organisms are made up of many specialized cells working together. The third major criterion is the mode of nutrition.Autotrophs, like plants, can produce their own food through processes like photosynthesis.Heterotrophs, like animals, must consume other organisms to obtain their nutrition.
